Online Backup software and services allow you to backup your important images, documents and other important files securely and easily to professional data security centers over the Internet. These subscription services allow you to purchase as much or little space as you need for your important files and you will know that they are secure and ready if something ever happens to your computer system like failure, damage or theft. Some of the services will also sync or synchronize your data across all your Windows, Mac and Mobile systems.
But not all backup software is the same. Some copy only the files and folders that you specify. Others products make an exact copy, or image, of your hard drive on a backup disk. Both methods have their pros and cons. The former is best if you only want to backup or archive your data files. But make sure you have installation discs for Windows and your applications. The latter option is better if you want to copy everything on your computer, even Windows. This makes it easier to restore your computer to the way it was before your hard drive died.
